Nugget of the day: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 Society tried to teach us that we should be free thinkers, do as we please and be our own boss. God has different ideas. He wants us to relinquish control of our lives to Him. To the nonbelievers and many believers giving up control scares them. They feel as if they are not able to control their lives they will fail, others may see them as weak or that their lives will be boring. The opposite is true. When we give God control of our lives, we find that life becomes an adventure. He will lead us and enable us to do things we ourselves do not have the power to or abilities to do. God will challenge us to step out of our comfort zone and to do things we never had an interest in doing. And yet, when He is in control and guides us, we learn to enjoy new skills, and we develop talents we never had. Following God brings peace into our lives because we are doing His will. When God created us, He had a plan for our lives. We often get off track, others misguide us, we give in to sinful desires, or we do not have the confidence to do the things our hearts yearn to do. It is when we allow God full control of our lives that we find fulfillment. Unlike people who have their own agendas and needs, God has our best interests at heart. He knows what will make us happy and bring joy into our lives. God knows what will keep our eyes on Him. My prayer tonight is that we realize that God is our key to living joyful and fulfilling lives. He can help us stay connected to Him and help us to do the impossible. Tonight spend some time seeking God’s guidance. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you hear God more clearly. Ask God to take charge of your life and ask the Holy Spirit to give you the strength to relinquish control to God. Prepare yourself to hear God give you directions and be willing to do things you never thought you could do. Let God challenge you and accept these challenges. We have a choice: we can live lives that cause us to be restless and searching for our true purpose, or we can accept God’s challenges and live an unpredictable, thrilling life and be amazed at the things we can do when He is in control. Following God is not for the faint of heart because He challenges us to get the most out of our lives and guides us to be His faithful servants.
