Nugget of the day: All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them. Acts 4:32-34 Unfortunately many believers today are not united. We become possessive of our churches, our rituals and the people with whom we associate. At times, we become more interested in our personal gain, rather than investing our time, money and energy into furthering the Kingdom of God. We as Christians need to unite. We would be much more effective if we supported one another instead of competing against each other. As Christians, we are followers of Jesus. As followers, we should do as Jesus did. He did not only minister to one group, but He also helped everyone. Someone had a need, Jesus met it. The apostles ministered to Jews and Gentiles. They ventured out and addressed the needs of people. We know that the available resources are more abundant when there are more people involved. We have different talents, gifts, and personalities. Jesus came into the world to unite us, but people were as stubborn then as they are now. Instead of seeing the light they resisted. People today still focus on the legalities of the religion rather than the truth of the Bible. Instead of realizing we all are fighting for the same cause, people take sides. It is too easy to get caught up in the worldly ideals and values and live for oneself. When we all stand for the truths of the Bible, everyone benefits. As Christians, we should be helping our neighbor and strangers. My prayer tonight is that we realize strength is in numbers. The more people spreading the Word of God, the more people we can reach. No role is too small. We can use everyone’s talents, and gifts in the body of Christ. Nothing we own on this earth is ours. It all belongs to Our God. It was all given to us as gifts. We do not need to hoard or be selfish with any of our gifts whether they are material, monetary, talents or time. Tonight, ask yourself if you are doing your part to further God’s Kingdom. Spend some time thinking of ways you can make a difference in people’s lives. Are there things you can do to unite some of your Christian brothers and sisters? Think how much better off the world would be if Christians were united!
