Nugget of the Day: And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17 When we work for a company, we are expected to conduct ourselves in a manner that would not bring dishonor or disgrace our company. Poor behavior is grounds for being fired. As Christians, we work for God. God has entrusted us with helping Him further His Kingdom. Thankfully God will never fire us or disown us as His children, but we should remain loyal to Him. Some people have been given a bad taste as to who Christians are and how they live their lives. When we act rude or disrespectful other people notice. When we mistreat someone or shun them because they are not living the life God has instructed them to live, we drive them further away. Being a Christian has many benefits including spending eternity with our God. Christianity also comes with responsibilities. We are expected to conduct ourselves according to the laws of the Bible. God has not permitted us to otherwise. God is the Boss of Christians. If He said it, then it is Gospel truth, and we should not lower our standards by accepting manmade or religious rules that go against God’s teachings. Just as there are consequences for not adhering to company policy, there are consequences for not adhering to God’s commands. My prayer tonight is that we realize every place we go, every person we speak to, we do so as a representative of God. We are never off the clock. God has us working overtime on this earth, but He will compensate us when we go to Heaven and enjoy eternity. Every person we meet, every meeting we attend, every day on the job, we should see as an assignment from God to show our Christianity. When people see that God is a good God who gives us peace and joy in our lives even through struggles, they will want what we have. If people see us as bitter, unhappy people who condemn other, find fault, speak poorly of people or think we are better than non-Christians they will not want to come to know our God. Tonight spend some time examining your heart. Are you acting as a Christian and representing God in your home, job site and leisure time? Do people want to get to know our God because they see how He has changed you, made you a better person? Our Boss is watching us every day. When we dishonor His Company, He notices. He knows we can do better and hopes we will try harder the next time. He also knows we are human and will make mistakes and He forgives us when we fail. We have a Boss that every employee dreams of, let’s make Him proud!
