Nugget of the day: Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. John 3:3-5 Births are exciting. There is a new life brought into the world. We place all kinds of hopes and expectations on this new one. Before they can walk we imagine them as the star athlete, the president, or someone to inherit the family business. The possibilities are endless. We love to watch as the baby develops. Everything is new and wonderful to her. She wants to explore everything. Every day is a new adventure. She never knows what she is going to encounter or where her experiences will take her. The same is true when we are born again Christians. Everything about God is exciting. We want to know all about Jesus’ teachings, understand the Old Testament. We are amazed at how Noah built an ark to house all the animals, how Joseph forgave his brothers, Daniel survived the lion’s den and how Paul converted to Christianity. As new Christians, we learn we have a home waiting for us in Heaven, and we are ecstatic. We can spend hours in prayer and want to be in God’s presence. Unfortunately for many, the newness wears off, and we revert to their old ways. Church is not a priority, quiet time with the Lord gets replaced by something else, and the peace and joy fade. Life does not have to be this way. Whether we are new Christians or old ones, we can learn so much by staying in the Word. We can do good every time we go to work, hang out with friends and family or encounter a stranger. Christianity can be enjoyable and adventurous no matter where we are in our walk. My prayer tonight is that we realize being reborn is vital in our Christian life. We all need to accept Jesus as our Savior. I pray we continue to see our faith as special and we never stop mining the Bible for nuggets. We need to keep looking with wide eyes and wonderment at all the miracles God performs in our lives. Tonight spend some time determining whether or not you are still living your faith with excitement and wonderment. If your faith is becoming old and stagnant, ask God to help you refuel and see all His glory through fresh eyes. Ask Him to help you see and appreciate the blessings He bestows on you. There is so much to learn and so much to see in this world we never want to become old and lifeless in our walk with Christ.
